 Air admittance valves are mostly installed to vent drain lines for island sinks with no wall hinding the vent through the wall and  through the roof to vent air inside the drain line.  The problem with these studor vent or air admittance valve is that most of the air venting through the air has heavy mosture which over time will damage cabinets from the inside out.  The water sitting inside the "P" trap evaporates through the vent and attaches to any dry absorbant material such as wood.
