What is the Best Bathroom Faucet?
The best bathroom or kitchen faucet is the one with the most Brass parts, if the bottom bracket, or lock nut is solid brass with solid brass washers, then you have hit the jackpot, if the bottom bracket is zink, or nickle plated, then keep shopping. If the faucet that is not solid brass from head to toe and it has to be moved or repaired, it will fall off the sink. Most of the biggest and oldest faucet company's are cheaping out on this bottom bracket, it is there dirty little secret! Click the image to see an example of one solid brass faucet we have found!
Its Just an O Ring! Right?
Wrong! Yes there are time's when just a flat washer has failed because of over-tighening, however, most of the time the entire stem should be replaced, because there are internal washers and o rings that fail, and can not be replaced, also the brass stem's thread becomes damaged and it will get stuck or not come out next time. We always recommend replacing the entire stem or cartriage on all faucets.
Repair or Replace Faucets
There are older faucets which were made a lot stronger than today's faucet and can be repaired a few times, however, new faucet housing are a lot weaker, and the cartriages are easier to replace, except the housing of the newer faucet will not survive another round of abuse, so have us check it out before the repair investment is made, there are a few new faucet's worth repairing, we can explain the difference.Faucet's Fail because of High Pressure or Dirt In line!
Faucets Fixtures are set to withstand a maxium pressure of 60psi, and any psi greater can cause severe damage or malfunction of faucet or fixture. Make sure with a simple water pressure test that the psi is 60psi or less.Another reason why a faucet is not working or has failed, is dirt in the line, it can be clogged from a water pipe repair, ask the question; is there new construction in the area? Has there been a major water leak with the untility company? We have installed whole house or commercial property particle filters to protect from on going construction in the area.
